Use page-level viewing time together with real customer questions to find sections of an onboarding guide that may need clearer instructions. Viewing time alone does not identify confusion.

How should the guide be prepared for review?

Give each task a clear outcome, owner, prerequisites, steps, and support route. Keep one main action per section and test tables, screenshots, and long instructions on a small screen.

Record which guide revision each customer received. Without that link, a question about an older step can be mistaken for a problem in the current document.

What can FeatPaper contribute?

FeatPaper can show revisit timing and page-level viewing flow when supported by the source. Compare that information with support tickets, onboarding calls, completion records, and direct questions.

Look for repeated patterns across several sources. A page with longer viewing time may be detailed, useful, interrupted, or unclear. Ask the customer before choosing a cause.

How should a section be improved?

Change the smallest useful part: rewrite the outcome, split a long step, label a screenshot, add a prerequisite, or move the support contact closer. Note the revision and watch whether future questions change.

Guide-review checklist

  • Does each section state its outcome and owner?
  • Is the customer’s guide revision known?
  • Are viewing observations paired with actual questions?
  • Is the proposed edit tied to a specific problem?
  • Can the revised step be tested on mobile?

What remains for native review?

An English reviewer should check onboarding terminology, instructional clarity, and the restrained interpretation of viewing time.
